UAE banned the import of poultry from Russia

The authorities of the United Arab Emirates have limited the import of live poultry from Russia.

The Ministry of Climate and Environmental Change of the United Arab Emirates (MoCCAE) on Thursday, January 17, announced a ban on the import of all live birds from Russia after the outbreak of the highly pathogenic strain of bird flu H5N2.

Earlier, an outbreak of influenza in the Rostov region was reported by the World Organization for Animal Health.

The MoCCAE statement said the ministry has taken security measures prohibiting the importation of all kinds of domestic and wild live ornamental birds, chicks, hatching eggs, meat and meat products, as well as non-heat-treated waste from the region where the epidemic broke out.

The ban also applies to a number of other Russian regions, including the Kursk, Astrakhan, Kostroma and Voronezh regions, as well as the Republic of Kalmykia.
