International bus terminal to be built in Ajman Emirate

An international bus terminal worth $ 2.45 million will be built in the emirate of Ajman (UAE)

In the emirate of Ajman, UAE, an international transport terminal will be built on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. An object worth 9 million dirhams ($ 2.45 million) will serve buses traveling in the emirate, country and region.

Omar bin Omair, CEO of Ajman Public Transport Corporation (APTC), said: "At the first stage, 20 buses equipped with modern technology will be placed in the depot."

APTC is currently working on the creation of 77 bus stations in different parts of the city to transport residents to and from the terminal.

Omar bin Omair added that the government allocated 15 million dirhams ($ 4 million) for new transport projects in 2018.

According to him, in 2017, APTC transported 2.2 million inhabitants, which is 26 percent more compared to 2016.

Omire said one of the main goals of APTC is to reduce the number of cars on Ajman's roads.

"This will help reduce the level of harmful emissions in the emirate," he explained.

All taxi operators working in the emirate should allocate 20 percent of their fleets for environmentally friendly transport.

"It is planned to supply all bus waiting stations with solar energy. We are currently testing to buy new electric passenger buses," Omair added.
