In Dubai, the killer of Russians prematurely released

A Dubai court pardoned and prematurely released the man who killed the Russian woman and was sentenced to life imprisonment for this.

A 61-year-old Uzbek prisoner serving a life sentence in Dubai for the murder of a Russian prostitute in 2001 filed an application for early release on medical grounds in December 2017.

On Monday, January 22, 2018, the Dubai Court of First Instance approved the prisoner's request and ordered his early release. According to the decision of the presiding judge, the applicant will be deported to his home country after completion of all formal procedures. The basis for this decision was the state of health of the convict - in court he was in a wheelchair after a stroke. In prison, he developed hypertension and diabetes.

The defendant was convicted of the abduction and murder of a Russian woman. The man strangled the victim and threw her body from the balcony of the apartment on the seventh floor.

The law provides that a convict who has served 15 years of life imprisonment has the right to submit a special application for release.

The 61-year-old man has already filed a petition, which was rejected due to the possible participation of the convict in the murder that occurred within the prison.

"I have not seen my eight children and grandchildren with whom I would like to spend some time before I die," he told the court.

The applicant received a certificate of good conduct and a recommendation for release on account of his excellent conduct and repentance for the crime from the prison administration.
