Schoolchildren in the UAE will deliver electric buses

In the United Arab Emirates are going to launch a school electric bus.

Emirates Transport (ET) has launched the final phase of testing the first school electric bus in the region.

A 45-seat vehicle manufactured in collaboration with Shanghai Sunwin Bus Cooperation is called "one of the first projects of its kind worldwide."

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Muhammad Abdullah Al-Jarman, general manager of Emirates Transport, said: “The launch of a school bus with zero emissions is part of our efforts to achieve the government’s vision for a green economy and to lead the UAE in leading such initiatives regional and international levels. "

The bus complies with the specifications and school transport regulations in force in the country. In addition to the usual structural safety tests, the bus passed practical tests for three months, and then several preliminary operational tests in the UAE. A series of tests will be completed under climatic and operational conditions similar to normal conditions during the school year.

Amer Al Harmudi, Executive Director of ET Automotive Services, said that one of the most important technical factors at the production stage is to adjust the efficiency of the air conditioning system in accordance with the specific climatic conditions in the country and the nature of operation in school vehicles.

Two fully integrated bus power plants are foreseen, one at Al Naboodah Group Enterprises and the other at Emirates Transport Bus Terminal. The current system is capable of fully charging in four hours. However, according to Fadil Atalla, ET Technical Development Manager, under normal operating conditions, a bus can travel 150 km.
