From the new year, the UAE authorities will cancel the 6-month ban on work

The UAE Ministry of Labor issued a new decree No. 25 of 2010, on the basis of which foreign working expatriates are given the right, after the end of the labor contract, to obtain a new work permit under the new contract without leaving the country for six months. At the same time, the expatriates are not subject to a six-month ban on entry into the country, as it was until now, and they can simply switch to a visa for a new employer.

The new decree comes into force on January 1, 2011 and will replace the current rules and regulations regarding the "transfer of sponsorship of expatriates working in the country." The resolution, however, states that a new work permit without a six-month ban will be granted to the expatriate only if his work contract is completed. In addition, two conditions must be met. First, both parties break up after the completion of the contract in a good way, without any conflicts or claims to each other. Second, the employee must work with his employer for at least two years, since a new type of work card (labor card) will be issued from January 1, 2011 also for a period of two years.
