An additional fee is introduced for air passengers in the UAE

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister, Vice President of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, issued a decree on “additional informational duties” for passengers arriving at UAE airports. According to the document, the fee will be 5 dirhams (US $ 1.4), it will be charged until arrival in the United Arab Emirates, when issuing a ticket, regardless of its place of purchase or issue. The effect of decree No. 36 of 2012, published in official sources, does not apply to children under 2 years old, the crew of the aircraft and transit passengers who continue traveling in the third direction less than 12 hours after arrival at the UAE airports.

The decision provides that the UAE Ministry of Finance, responsible for collecting fees, will notify airports, tourism and airlines of the effective date of the decision. Fees will go to the state treasury of the country. The decree will enter into force on April 1, 2013, three months from the date of signing, December 31, 2012.
