The UAE Traffic Council recommended that women be prohibited from applying makeup while driving. Corresponding amendments are supposed to be introduced into the rules of the road in the section on inattentive driving. According to members of the council, the use of a rearview mirror by women for applying cosmetics closes their view.
The Council suggested treating certain inappropriate driving behavior, including the application of makeup by women, especially in the morning rush hours. Men are encouraged to ban wearing a traditional headscarf while driving. In addition, drivers will not be allowed to eat, drink or write text messages. If the amendments are approved by the UAE Minister of the Interior, they will be submitted to Parliament and the Government for consideration.
