Emirates' decision buries Airbus A380

The world's largest passenger aircraft will be phased out after a decision by Emirates management to reduce its portfolio of orders.

Emirates has reduced its portfolio of orders for Airbus A380 airliners from 162 to 123, thereby putting an end to Airbus's plans to continue producing the world's largest passenger aircraft.

Rumors about the possibility of such a development of the situation appeared at the end of 2017, but only now official confirmation followed.

According to Airbus CEO Tom Enders, following a decision by Emirates management, the company no longer has any reason to build new aircraft of this model, despite working with other airlines. Thus, the aircraft manufacturing concern Airbus will stop the production of the world's largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380.

It is noted that over the next two years, Emirates will receive another 14 A380 aircraft.

Recall that by November 2018, Airbus launched 232 A380 airliners. They are operated by a fleet of 15 airlines, including Singapore Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa, British Airways and Qatar Airways.

Airbus A380 - the largest serial airliner in the world. Its height is 24.08 meters, length - 72.75 meters, wingspan - 79.75 meters. The aircraft accommodates 525 passengers in the cabin of three classes and 853 passengers in a single-class configuration. It can fly non-stop flights up to 15.4 thousand kilometers.
