9 visa amnesty centers open in the UAE

The UAE Federal Office for Identification and Citizenship has opened 9 visa amnesty centers.

Dubai, UAE. The UAE Federal Office for Identification and Citizenship has launched a media campaign called “Protect Yourself by Changing Your Status”: within three months, starting on August 1, visa violators will be able to leave the country without fines or prosecution or legalize their stay in the United Arab Emirates.

For these purposes, 9 migration centers are open in the country, which operate on weekdays, from 08.00 to 20.00, at the following addresses: in Abu Dhabi - in the Shahama area, in Al Ain and Al Garbia, in Dubai - in the Al Avir, in other emirates - in the main migration departments.

The visa amnesty period will last until October 31. Those who are in the UAE with expired tourist and residency visas, or have employment problems, can leave the country or pay fines to legalize their stay.

It should be noted that violators leaving the country will not be subject to a ban on entry into the UAE in the future (re-entry ban). And those who pay fines (the minimum fine is 500 dirhams) and stay, will be able to find a legal job again, having received a temporary visa for 6 months.

It is worth emphasizing that the visa amnesty does not apply to persons who are blacklisted or prosecuted by law. If the offender leaves the country, he must present to the immigration center a passport or a document replacing him, as well as a plane ticket. A permit of 220 dirhams will be charged for issuing a travel permit.

In this case, the violator is obliged to leave the country within 10 days after the issuance of permission to leave. If the applicant cannot visit the visa center on his own, the immigration service may issue a permit to leave on the basis of a medical diagnosis or a letter from the consulate or embassy of the applicant’s country.
