Dubai remains an expensive city to live in.

Despite the continued decline in the cost of rental housing in Dubai, the city still remains on the list of 26 most expensive megacities in the world for living.

Although housing rents and overall cost of living continue to decline in Dubai, the city was not able to enter the top twenty available places to stay.

According to a study by Mercer, Dubai is ranked 26th on the list of the most expensive cities to live in. At the same time, in the ranking compiled by the agency, Tashkent, Bishkek, Tbilisi and Minsk were in the ten most accessible cities for foreigners to live in.

In Tashkent, 5.6 thousand dirhams ($ US 1.5 thousand) are enough for a foreigner to lead a “Dubai” lifestyle, which requires 14 thousand dirhams ($ US 3.8 thousand) in the emirate.

The most accessible cities for expats are:

  1. Tashkent, Uzbekistan
  2. Tunisia, Tunisia
  3. Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
  4. Banjul, The Gambia
  5. Karachi, Pakistan
  6. Blantyre, Malawi
  7. Tbilisi, Georgia
  8. Minsk, Belarus
  9. Tegucigalpa, Honduras
  10. Managua, Nicaragua

Thus, three of the ten cheapest places in the world for expats are in Asia.

Hong Kong is recognized as the most expensive city this year, followed by Tokyo, Zurich, Singapore and Seoul.

Rental prices in Hong Kong were almost 60 percent higher than in Dubai. In general, foreigners currently residing in Dubai will need about 21 thousand dirhams ($ US 5.7 thousand) to maintain their usual standard of living while in Hong Kong.
