In the UAE introduced a ban on the import of meat from South Africa

UAE authorities have banned the import of animals and products of animal origin that have not undergone heat treatment from South Africa.

The Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment (MoCCAE) has decided to ban the import of animal products from South Africa after the World Animal Health Organization reported an outbreak of Rift Valley fever.

MoCCAE has announced the following preventative measures:

1. The ban on the import from South Africa of live animals (sheep, goats, cattle, buffalos, camels, gazelles), as well as animal products that have not undergone heat treatment.

2. The ban on the import of live animals (sheep, goats, cattle, buffalos, camels, gazelles), as well as animals that have not undergone heat treatment, from the infected province of Letsemeng, South Africa.

3. However, the ban does not apply to products that have undergone heat treatment from all regions of South Africa.
