Dubai's river buses replaced with traditional boats

Authorities have replaced watercraft in Dubai Marina with traditional abra boats.

The Dubai Highway and Transportation Authority (RTA) has replaced several water buses in the Dubai Marina area with air-conditioned abra boats, which are more efficient and comfortable for passengers.

According to Rahma Al Falasi, director of maritime transport at the RTA Public Transport Agency, this step is part of the agency’s efforts to improve maritime transport in the emirate.

“Among other initiatives taken to improve shipping services was the renewal of the Al Seef maritime transport station,” he added.

"The expansion of the maritime transport network in the area is expected to attract additional passengers who need to get from Al Seef station to other Creek stations, as there are numerous tourist attractions and sites along it," Al Falasi explained.

He added that maritime transport is a strategic component of the emirate’s infrastructure, especially after the opening of the Dubai Canal. These vehicles include abra in various variations, sea taxis and Dubai ferry.
