A company employee from Dubai will go to jail for bribes

Former oil company employee in Dubai jailed for bribe.

A former oil and gas company procurement officer in Dubai, who charged commissions on contracts with suppliers, was sentenced to three years in prison.

The defendant was convicted of trying to get nearly 800 thousand dirhams ($ US 217.8 thousand) from the supplier company. This information later came to the head of the accused. The employee was found guilty by the Court of First Instance of receiving a bribe in the civil service. The court ordered his deportation after serving a prison term and a fine of 10.3 thousand dirhams ($ US 2.8 thousand).

According to prosecutors, in other established cases, the accused requested a commission from suppliers for assistance in selling goods and services.
