Sharjah government repays UAE citizens debts

The Sharjah ruler, together with the Sharjah Debt Settlement Committee, approved a budget for the repayment of debts of needy citizens.

His Highness Sultan Ibn Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, approved a program for the payment of 9,501,177 dirhams (about two and a half million US dollars) to pay off the debts of UAE citizens.

This step is part of Sheikh Dr. Sultan Ibn Mohammed's generous initiative, according to which the core of public policy is humanitarian values. The task of the state is to make the life of citizens stable and worthy. It is worth noting that the Sharjah Department of Social Services provides monthly support to all those in need.

In addition, the Sharjah Debt Settlement Committee approved the allocation of AED 49,428,000 from the budget to pay the debts of UAE citizens.

Rashid Ahmed ibn Al Sheikh, the head of the Court of Emir Sharjah and the head of the committee said that the Committee approved the payment of debts of individuals who failed to fulfill their obligations. The program includes debt restructuring in 16 stages.

Al Sheikh explained that the total amount of payments to write off citizens' debts reached 537 310 153 dirhams, and the total number of those in need was 1099 people.
