The number of hotel rooms in Dubai will grow to 132 thousand by the end of 2019.

Dubai, UAE. The number of hotel rooms in Dubai will grow to 132 thousand by the end of 2019, according to a new study by the emirate’s Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing.

It notes that the hospitality sector expects strong and steady growth in the coming years: already in 2019, the number-day indicator will grow to 35.5 million a year, and the combined average annual growth rate in the next two years will be 10.2% in year.

The forecast for hotel occupancy remains at 76-78%, despite the increase in capacity, the study said. Increased competition among hotels will be fueled by increased demand from international tourists and their length of stay at Dubai hotels.

At the end of 2017, the Dubai hotel fund reached 107,431 rooms, annual growth fluctuated at 4%, and occupancy at 78%. 15.79 million international tourists visited Dubai last year. As expected, the growth in the number of three- and four-star hotels will be 10% and 13%, respectively, by the end of 2019 - in the wake of growing demand.

It should be noted that at present, the preferences of tourists are already widely distributed among sectors such as shopping, restaurants, beach vacations, adventures, family entertainment and attending events. Thus, Dubai has diversified its offer and is able to meet the needs of tourists in all categories, and not just remain a destination for a beach holiday.
