UAE gang rented luxury cars and sold them abroad

9 people are imprisoned in the United Arab Emirates for reselling rented cars.

Nine men who stole dozens of luxury cars worth over 7 million dirhams ($ 1.9 million) were brought before an Abu Dhabi court. They rented vehicles from car rental companies in the UAE and sold them abroad using fake documents. Criminals received prison sentences from one year to ten years.

The court also ordered the confiscation of cars seized from the salons and forged documents used in the resale of stolen cars.

Among the resold cars are Lamborghini, Range Rover, Mercedes, Nissan Patrol. Some were stolen from car rental companies in Abu Dhabi, while others were stolen from Dubai.

The investigation revealed that after the lease, the accused drove the cars to their friends, who helped to forge customs documents. They changed two digits in the serial number of the vehicle. Then the car was exported under the guise of a new one.

Men denied the allegations throughout the trial.

Owners of stolen cars were advised to file civil suits against the defendants for compensation for financial damage inflicted on them.

Citizens of other states will be deported after serving their prison terms.
