Abu Dhabi will fine cars that pollute the environment

Abu Dhabi police imposed a fine of 1000 dirhams for environmental pollution.

A fine of 1000 dirhams and six black points - this is what awaits drivers for driving a vehicle that is highly polluting the environment, an Abu Dhabi police officer said on Monday during the second final day of the Clean Air forum.

The forum was organized by the Abu Dhabi Environmental Agency in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development. The event was attended by both officials and representatives of private organizations. A number of topics related to air quality in the UAE and the necessary measures aimed at reducing pollution were put on the agenda of the forum.

“If an officer detects black smoke emitted from a vehicle, he can stop such a car and write a fine. In addition to a fine of 1000 dirhams, the offender will be given six black points,” said captain Abdullah Ghafli from the Abu Dhabi police.

He noted that Abu Dhabi police are seriously addressing the issue of environmental pollution.

The captain added that employees of the department are authorized to stop the movement of cars polluting the environment and to issue a fine to violators.
