The DTF was first launched in 1996 and lasted exactly 45 days (from March 1 to April 14), then every year it pleased guests of Dubai for a month, usually in early spring. Later, the DTF celebration was moved to a cooler winter time to give street artists and artists more opportunities to present their work in the open, and residents and visitors to spend more time with their families in the fresh air in parks and streets of a bustling city. The festival was canceled only once - last year in connection with the death of the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al-Maktoum. Then the authorities of the emirate decided to transfer the DTF from January to December 2006 and to carry out its “dual” version. So, the Dubai Trade Festival 2006-2007 lasting exactly 45 days (as in the first year) is coming back! Under the traditional motto "One world. One family. One festival" it will be held from December 20, 2006 to February 2, 2007.
Fidelity to tradition
For those who have been living in Dubai since the mid-90s of the last century, or who have come to the Emirates for business and leisure for quite some time, the Dubai Trade Festival and its program are almost ordinary and familiar. Just like ten years ago, the Global Village (World Village) will begin its work, where folk art of craftsmen from different countries will be presented, the famous Carpet Oasis (Carpet Oasis) will open its doors, where they will bring their carpets from silk, wool and cotton weavers from Iran, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, India and other parts of the world. Colorful carnival processions will “splash out” on the streets of the city, and fireballs of fireworks will bloom in the night sky. The ethnographic village (Heritage Village) in the Shindag area will meet everyone who wants to plunge into the traditional way of life of the Bedouin tribes of Arabia with a cup of coffee with cardamom (kahwa) and fresh pastries, jewelry exhibitions and old photographs. Well, and most importantly - of course, shopping at the best prices, in the most beautiful and popular shopping centers of the city - Deira City Center, Burjuman Center, Al Ghurair City, Wafi City, Ibn Battuta Mall, Mall of the Emirates and others. Despite the huge variety of entertaining, educational and other festival programs, we asked ourselves the question: “What makes the 2006-2007 festival special?” To the credit of the organizers, it is worth noting that the DTF program is replenished every year with more and more new events. Which ones? With this question, we turned to our compatriot Tatyana Frederick, who has been bringing to Dubai for a variety of artists from many cities of Russia for more than 10 years under the auspices of her company Tatyana Entertainment LLC, which collaborates with the DTF organizing committee. And we were very pleased to receive first-hand information, as they say.
“If you remember, during the festival there was always a big street carnival. In the processions, usually a lot of artists were involved - clowns, jugglers and so on. Now, due to the large-scale construction in the city, the main areas of festival events have moved from Deira in the direction of the new Dubai, for example, the main festival scene will be located on the territory of the Global Village. There will also be no big street carnival, such as before, but there will be a colorful procession with the participation of 70-80 people from different countries, which will also be take place in Global Village, and every day. There will also be an Art Village (Art Village) and a large photo exhibition. Everyone, without exception, will be given the opportunity to try their hand as artists. A special creative event will be called Open Paint, and young painters will be given easels, brushes and canvases for work.In addition, the best art galleries in Dubai will take part in the festival, which from January 7 to 21, 2007 will present their collections to the audience. All exhibited works can be bought.
A feature of this festival will be the performances of the most ambitious and best circus in the world - "Cirque Du Solley". An international troupe works in this circus, a lot of artists from Russia, Ukraine and other CIS countries. But nevertheless, the most remarkable during the DTF are the performances of groups from Russia. This year, on the main festival stage, a grand theatrical show "Magic Toy Store" will be held, in which children from Russia participate. The show is being produced by my company Tatyana Entertainment, but this is not the most important thing. The most interesting thing is that many young artists grew up with the Dubai Trade Festival. For example, the Aquarius children's ensemble first took part in the DTF, when its artists were a little over seven years old, and the youngest was still in a stroller. Today, "Aquarius" is a beautiful and professional teenage group showing wonderful programs, and this very kid this year will first appear on stage as a soloist with his older comrades. The children's circus group Fantazers from Kanakovo will also come, the dance group Lapushki from Klin will show their program. There will be adult artists from the Levushkin Theater "Bim-Bom".
You know, the Dubai Trade Festival made many friends together. All the artists who performed at least once with the festival programs in Dubai maintain warm and friendly relations with their colleagues in Russia upon returning home. Over the ten-year history of the DTF, only Tatyana Entertainment has brought more than 7,000 people to the UAE. Both adults and children. This year, artists from different cities of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine will come to the DTF. A sound engineer from Latvia has been invited to participate in the show "Magic Toy Store". The conclusion suggests itself: the Dubai Trade Festival is not just a holiday of shopping at discounted prices, it is a grand extravaganza during which it is never boring. To nobody. For this, considerable efforts are made both from the organizers and from the sponsors of the DTF.
For example, this year at the Dubai Fashion Week, which will be held from January 8 to 12, 2007 at Madinat Jumeirah, such famous designers as Sonya Riquel, Emmanuel Ungaro, Christian Lacroix, Valentino, will take part for the first time with their collections. and Bvlgari House will present its jewelry. As part of the Week, a show by young fashion designers Creations will be held at Burjuman Shopping Center, on the first day of which amateurs will present their creations, and on the second, professional clothing designers.
A variety of outdoor sports events will be very interesting, the venues for which will be the best city parks - Jumeirah Beach Park, Al Mamzar Park, Safa Park, Creek Park and Zabeel Park. This is a paintball competition, a sports show "Hunting with Dogs", and Extreme Challenge show. The highlight of the sporting events will be the traditional Dubai Marathon.
Representatives of the Guinness Book of Records will again come to Dubai to record new and unusual records - the longest chain of participants in the game "Spoiled Phone", the longest line of footprints left in the sand, the largest buffet in the world (out of 550 various dishes of international cuisine) , the largest collection of perfume bottles, the largest spoon and so on.
And of course, what kind of festival is without fireworks? Traditionally, all Dubai festival fireworks are held by Al Zarooni, one of the key sponsors of the celebration. Balloon contests will be added to the fire show, as well as the now-famous daily rallies of Lexus and Nissan cars, as well as the popular gold lottery among Dubai residents and city visitors, in which kilograms of solar metal are played every day. All festival events will be broadcast on Dubai TV, and the draws will be broadcast live from Global Village. "
