UAE residents will be awarded for police assistance

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the UAE, citizens of the country, as well as expatriates who collaborate with the police in the fight against crime, will be awarded special cash prizes and orders of merit.

The Bill on the Awarding of UAE Police Assistants was approved by the Federal National Council (FNC) at a special meeting. This bill amends federal law No. 19 of 1995 in relation to medals, orders of merit and other distinctions. Sheikh Saif noted that ordinary citizens of the United Arab Emirates and expatriates who collaborate with the police often take part in maintaining law and order in the UAE. He proposed to award such people medals and cash prizes, which will be paid for life.

As an example of cooperation with the police, Sheikh Saif cited the case of one of the UAE citizens who helped the police arrest an armed criminal chasing a man. The latter took refuge in a police station, but the pursuer fired shots directly opposite the gates of the police station. After that, the police began to pursue the shooter. A UAE citizen saw the ongoing chase with a shootout and blocked the movement of the criminal with his car. As a result, the offender stopped; the police were able to surround his car and detain the intruder. Such brave and worthy people, according to the minister, will be awarded with medals and orders.
