The killer of the Russian woman received early release in Dubai on the occasion of her daughter's wedding

A Ukrainian woman who was serving a life sentence in Dubai for the murder of a Russian woman was released ahead of schedule.

A woman of Ukrainian descent, who was serving a life sentence for the intentional murder of a prostitute of Russian descent, achieved early release to participate in the wedding of her daughter.

She was convicted for 28 years when a Dubai trial court found her guilty of murder. Her accomplice, a 21-year-old policeman of Yemeni descent, was also convicted and imprisoned.

The incident occurred on February 8, 1999. According to the case file, the attackers lured a prostitute into an apartment, killed her and hid the body in a bag next to the dump.

In July 2000, the Dubai Cassation Court upheld the initial court decision.

After serving more than 15 years of imprisonment, the couple filed a special application with the trial court asking for clemency and early release.

“My daughter was five years old when I came to Dubai to earn a living. She is now 24 years old. I could not see her when she went to school and graduated from college. I was not there to feed her, dress and educate her. Now she is going to get married. I was in prison for 18 years, and all I ask for is mercy and early release so that I can attend my daughter’s wedding and spend the rest of my life with her, ”the woman said in court,“ I’ve lost everything in my life, and I don’t want the same thing to happen to her with her daughter. I sincerely ask you to be humane and compassionate to her, as I have harmed her with my recklessness. Please forgive me and let me be with her on her wedding day. ”

The convicted man also requested a clemency court to reunite with his family and his sick mother.

The presiding judge approved the applicants' request for early release on Tuesday, and they were immediately released.

Federal Law No. 43 of 1992 on the Regulation of Punitive and Correctional Institutions provides that a convicted person who has served 15 years of life imprisonment has the right to submit a special request for release. The applicants received good behavior reviews and recommendations on their release from the leadership of the Dubai Central Prison.
