Porsche Panamera: another take-off of the German auto industry

Porsche launches Panamera, the first Gran Turismo four-door sedan in its history.

The new model range sets a new scale in its class, thanks not only to exceptional dynamic characteristics and exemplary efficiency, but also to special individual comfort and exclusive equipment. The main technologies of the new Panamera include five innovations that are first offered in the production model of a top-class car. So, Gran Turismo introduces for the first time a dual-clutch gearbox in this segment, the first Start-Stop system in combination with an automatic shift gearbox, air suspension with adjustable additional volume in each air element, active aerodynamics in the form of an automatically retractable rear spoiler with an adjustable angle of attack , as well as the first Sport Chrono package, which at the touch of a button provides a more sporty tuning of the engine, chassis and gearbox. In addition, the so-called Launch Control function is used in conjunction with the Porsche Doppelkupplung for the best possible acceleration.

Three options when introduced to the market

The fourth after 911, Boxster / Cayman and Cayenne Porsche lineup appeared on the market in September of this year in three versions with V8 engines. The Panamera S sedan is equipped with an eight-cylinder 4.8-liter engine producing 400 hp. and rear-wheel drive, the Panamera 4S model with a 4.8-liter V8 engine with 400 hp, and the Panamera Turbo with a 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine developing a rated power of 500 hp. In the basic configuration, torque transmission is carried out using a six-speed manual gearbox, and as an option, using a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK). The sedan shows the best acceleration and fuel consumption. So, from a standstill to 100 km / h Gran Turismo, without interruption in traction, accelerates in 5.4 seconds and consumes 10.8 liters per 100 kilometers in accordance with the Euro-5 standard.

Design Panamera

The Porsche designer managed to get an excellent result - to create the Panamera in a confident style, as a completely new and independent model, which, nevertheless, is a typical Porsche. It stands out already with its own proportions: the large width and minimum height compared to comparable four-door cars with a length of less than five meters give Gran Turismo originality. The independence of the Panamera is revealed in its functional luggage compartment concept. Consistently designed as a four-seater Gran Turismo goes its own way in terms of interior design and comfort. Despite its characteristic low and elongated silhouette, the Panamera is 4.97 meters long and only 1.42 meters high, and causes a feeling of spaciousness in all four places. The cabin with a through center console rising up in front provides optimal ergonomic conditions for the driver and, in addition, emphasizes the personal atmosphere of each passenger in each precisely fitted separate seat. Low landing creates typical Porsche direct contact with the road.

In the back of the cabin of all models there are two separate seats with a folding central armrest, which provide large legroom and a large internal height, including for tall passengers. Additional options are available on request, such as adaptive sports seats or electrically adjustable comfortable rear seats. In addition, customers can choose from an extensive list of options - from various leather trim options to a Porsche Entry & Drive keyless entry system (standard for Panamera Turbo).

Exemplary performance

Panamera models are equipped with climaticsystems that are optimized for energy efficiency, mass and volume occupied. The basic equipment includes dual-zone climate control. At the same time, the amount and distribution of air for the driver and front passenger are automatically and separately regulated, and if necessary, can be manually adjusted using the central control panel on the center console.

A feature and central control element is a 7-inch color touch screen - both in combination with the CDR-31 audio system and the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, including the navigation module. On request, a separate entertainment program for the rear passengers of the Panamera is offered.

The Porsche rear-seat multimedia system includes two front-seat console consoles with 7-inch TFT swivel color screens, including built-in players and wireless infrared headphones. Management is carried out using the touch screen. For the first time in a Porsche, the High-End surround sound system from Berlin's Edelmanufaktur Burmester®, one of the most renowned suppliers of high-end systems for music lovers, is offered. An acoustically effective total membrane area of ​​this size has never been foreseen yet at the stage of creating the automobile concept - now it is used in a production car: 2400 square centimeters. This area consists of 16 speakers, on which 16 channels of the amplifier supply a total power of more than 1000 watts, including a subwoofer with a class D amplifier with a power of 300 watts.

In general, the Porsche Panamera sports sedan is fully consistent with the philosophy of the largest European automaker to create high-tech luxury goods, the sophisticated level of which is consciously and consistently maintained in solving design problems in which even the smallest detail is not accidental.
