Before the Christmas and New Year holidays in the UAE bought up all the iPhone

Apple phones, the iPhone, have become the most popular gift for Christmas and New Year holidays in the Emirates this year. On the eve of the festivities, Apple phones completely disappeared from the shelves of the emirate’s stores, and those who wish to purchase them stand in line, waiting for new deliveries.

As reported by The National newspaper on December 23, 2009, buyers who bought dozens of iPhones made a big contribution to creating a shortage for the popular phone model. Representatives of leading electronics stores told newspaper reporters that tens and hundreds of people are on the waiting lists.

The shortage of licensed iPhones from the emirate telecommunication companies caused a sharp increase in prices on the black market, where you can buy the latest 3GS phone, which can be much more expensive than the price of $ 760 set by Etisalat and Du. The average price of gray iPhone 3GS phones in Dubai is around $ 850 for a model with 16GB of memory.

In response to an official request from The National regarding future iPhone shipments to stores, Etisalat, a telecommunications company, said deliveries were made daily, but the company did not have the resources to meet the full market demand. Telecommunications company Du has not yet commented. Recall that the UAE's largest operator, Etisalat Corporation, offered two models of the popular mobile phone: 16 GB iPhone 3GS for $ 655 and 32 GB iPhone 3GS for $ 765. In both cases, the price includes the 3G Internet package - 500 Mb per month, free of charge in the first 6 months.

Du company for similar prices offered phones with 1Gb free Internet, subject to the cost of telephone calls at $ 27 per month.
