New York Loris Rame

This woman is in love with her city like no other. She pays tribute to him and sings in her creations the uniqueness and at the same time recognizability of each of his streets and each quarter, daily creating a "perfume" map of the city. Today you can take a walk in New York, thanks to the exceptional fragrances of Bond No. 9. About what served as the impetus for the start of such an unusual business, let's talk with Loris Rame herself, a real Frenchwoman, perfumer and innovator.

Loris, where did the original idea for creating the Bond No.9 perfume series come from?

My whole life turned upside down after September 11, 2001. Then the office where I worked was located in the center of the city, and I inhaled with horror the smells of dust and burning from the destroyed World Trade Center. At some point, I wanted to return to the city its amazing aroma. French perfumes of the twentieth century created a whole ensemble of perfumes dedicated to various parts of Paris. Now it’s my turn to give unforgettable fragrances to New York.

Why New York?

There are no more cities like New York in the world! What do I personally like about him? Its energy, as well as the uniqueness of each district, from which the overall picture of this metropolis is collected. From Wall Street and Harlem to Chinatown and Chelsea - each district is so unique that it gives me some ground for thought and inspiration for creating spirits that include their entire essence.

How to preserve and convey the aroma of a certain area of the city in perfume? What is the main secret?

The main secret lies in the transfer of energy to a particular region in the spirits. When creating Bond No. fragrances 9 absolutely everything is important to me - people, culture and atmosphere. From these components masterpieces are born. In my case, perfumes.

Which New York area reflects your personality the most?

The most expressive area reflecting my "I" is Noho. This is the area in which I live, work and which I love more than anyone else. My company is headquartered in Noho, so I dedicated two flavors to this corner of New York - daytime Eau de Noho and nighttime Nuits de Noho.

How did you come up with the idea of creating your newest New York Oud perfumes?

How is East traditional oud related to New York?

My life, as it turned out, was closely connected with the customs and traditions of the Middle East, so I always liked the scent of a rare tree - oud. I assumed that traditional oud might already be presented in New York, so my task was to modernize and urbanize oud and present it to New York in the form that no one before me did. I did it, and I'm happy that the New York Oud perfumes are at the top of our bestseller list today!

Any other cities will be immortalized in the spirit of Bond No. 9 in the near future?

The search for new fragrances is ongoing. Therefore, until I definitely answer this question.

However, September 18, 2011, exactly one week after the memorable date of September 11, Bond No. 9 will introduce the new perfume “I LOVE NEW YORK” (“I love New York”) and the eponymous advertising campaign from the famous Milton Glaser.

What, in your opinion, distinguishes luxury perfume from mass today?

Creating a product of the highest class and quality allows any brand to get real fans. In my opinion, in the luxury segment this is the most important thing today.
