HAAD specialists analyzed and tested 82 products that could potentially harm the health of consumers. These included Hydroxycut Hardcore, Lipo 6, Dymaburn Xtreme, Redline, and several others. It was revealed that one of the components in them is the substance yohimbine, which was banned in the UAE by a ministerial decree of 1988, due to the fact that it can negatively affect the cardiovascular system, cause heart failure, and even death.
In addition, one of the products contained the substance ephedra, which can cause psychiatric symptoms, palpitations, and death. In one supplement, tryptophan was discovered, which causes fatal muscle damage, which can also lead to death.
According to the results of the HAAD study, a large number of products that supposedly can help lose weight and are still on sale have nothing to do with weight loss and are unlikely to help get rid of it. These products contain active ingredients such as chromium picolinate, caffeine, green tea, garcinia and guarana. These "miracles" can be easily found in stores, pharmacies, fitness centers, gyms, doctors practicing alternative medicine and direct distributors of goods.
92% of the products studied and tested were not even officially registered with the Ministry of Health of the UAE, 97% of them had one or more warnings in their descriptions about possible side effects. And only 53% of the description contained information related to weight loss.
Drugs banned for sale and distribution in the UAE include Hydroxycut Hardcore, Hydroxycut Max for Women, Redline, Lipo 6, Lipo 6 Hers, Lipo 6X, Lipo 6 Black, Xenadrine RFA-X, Dymaburn Xtreme, and Atro-phex.
