Jeremy, what is Batucada?

This is the whole world of Brazilian dances in one bottle. He was invented by perfumers Karin Vinshon and Elizabeth Mailer, believing that the rhythms of salsa and samba give joy. You inhale the first notes of sensual and, at the same time, fresh perfumes - lime, green mint and cacassa (Brazilian rum), included in the famous Caipirinha cocktail - and you understand that this is passion, this is love from the first sip. And how refreshing! So you can dance until the morning. And then comes the turn of exotic ylang-ylang chords, reminiscent of the aroma of sunblock, melting on bronze skin under the hot sun of the beaches of Brazil. You imagine an ocean breeze at sunset, slightly salty and smelling of iodine and algae.

Light shades of sea salt are the final chord of this perfume composition. And you understand - in front of you is Rio de Janeiro with its carnivals and music, crowds of cheerful people and the rhythms of samba! Here's what we call Batucada today, exactly what Brazilian samba is called, and I am delighted to present this sparkling new perfume in our signature boutique in Dubai Mall. We are proud of these perfumes, and I am sure that they can be worn both in the afternoon and in the evening.

It’s well known that many of your perfumes are travel stories. And what has L'Artisan House prepared for the new year?

We created a series of gift sets of three different fragrances with a volume of 30 ml and called them “Doors of Paris”. Each set is packed in an original box, decorated with images of doors as if you were standing on a Parisian shopping street and choosing which boutique to enter.

In these sets we tried to collect our best sellers, and there are separate gifts for men and women. We thought that this could be a good present for any holiday or just a person who, for a start, wants to get acquainted with our works. In addition, we began developing new collections of body products with the same aromas as perfumes. In 2012, the first “Timbuktu” series will be on sale.

How well is your perfumery represented in Russia and the CIS countries?

I recently returned from Moscow, and I must say that the sales there are simply amazing. We present our products in GUM and TSUM, as well as in several large perfumery and cosmetic chains. Russia is a grateful market for niche perfumes. In addition, we have departments in other large Russian cities.

We talked about how many L'Artisan compositions are based on travel experiences. Do you have any idea to come up with perfumes dedicated to traveling across Russia, from Petersburg to Moscow, for example?

Why not! I think our perfumers should really like the idea. Perhaps they should go to Russia with me to gain experience.
